About

This website comprises what Frans de Vlieger has designed from 2021 up to 2025. Below you find a description by himself about his work. First you find a description on how this website and company Designs4NLL will follow a scheme of 3 stages.

Three stages of Designs4NLL

This website is now a first stage of design in the form of a fully automated website with free to use tools4NLL. In the second stage it will go over towards what is described on the page for designers, Designs4NLL will become a group of shop owners and associated studios that collectively facilitate a community of users. It will probably be the pioneers as described on the page about pioneers who will be the first to form this group. In the third stage there will be a kind of exhibition space for the designers where they can permanently display their designs. There will also be additional temporary and physical exhibitions or a section that deals mainly with the past in the form of a museum. This will also include a library for related media and the free to use tools4NLL of stage one.

The aim of Designs4NLL is to keep up with the needs of the users, designers and pioneers as described on this website. That is why the company Designs4NLL will change from one stage to the other and so will the terms and conditions you find at the bottom of the page.

Pioneers in stage 1 will be the owners in stage 2

At the beginning of stage 2 the shop and studio owners will be selected. These will be the pioneers as described on this website. Visualised it will look like a design park with exhibited designs, shops, studio’s and meeting places where people will have real contact with each other. Where people are really alive and make work that is as it were alive as described on the home page. You can rent a shop and studio place in stage 2, which will start when there will be sufficient demand for these design shops and studio’s. This demand will come if Next Level Learning will take off. The pioneers will start ahead of this wave so as the wave will come they are able to open a shop and a studio. It is also true that the pioneers will make the wave come as described on the page about pioneers. To provide an incentive for the adventure that the pioneers are embarking on, they will be charged only 10% of the rent for a shop and studio place in stage 2 and are secured of a place in the design park. Anyone who wants to start with this can fill in the form at the page ‘pioneers’.

Frans de Vlieger about his work

Below you find a description by Frans de Vlieger about his work:

Process, essence and designing form

I accidentally became a designer. By being interested in the process of learning and seeing an essence of it, I came to a new way of learning. I designed form so that someone could achieve that new way of learning. This example shows the kind of designer I am, in key words it is about process, essence and designing form to have substantial influence on the process. Whereas for most designers it starts with form, for me it starts with process and its essence. These are typically subjects that are rather abstract and usually go over one's head. The processes are not immediately visible and certainly the essence is not. Moreover, the essence I see in something is connected to me, it is my essence, so to speak.

Inspiration is literally everywhere

My movement or inspiration to see processes comes mostly from everyday life. At school, work, home everywhere there is a tremendous amount to see in terms of processes. To see processes I have to look at it longer. This is because form you see immediately and processes are essentially the change of form, or the change of the change of form. This may sound complicated but it is something like seeing a car in a place, seeing the car moving at a certain speed or seeing the car slowing down or accelerating. You might say I look at the processes of processes because then I can see how a process can be changed.

In motion and alive

What I see in everyday life in terms of processes I compare to the past. That makes looking at old journals and books interesting. I then see more about how processes change over time. I have many old journals and books from 50 to 150 years old. On the surface it is about topics like trains, engineering, technology, operations and management but underlying it is for me about learning, designing, really living etc. Nature and gardening is also an unlimited source of inspiration and I do gardening from the process. The design of my garden is a process from which it arises, it is therefore in motion and alive. And that is perhaps the most characteristic of my designs, it is alive and it is about maximum living life.

In concreto

I have created designs for a new form of learning, see www.nextlevellearningtool.com, and a design for new form of designing as described on this website and embodied by Designs4NLL. I will continue to work on a craft based scale for or with a few others who are engaged in designing as I have described above for myself or who are already designing for a longer time as described on this website. That will be related to stage 2 of Designs4NLL as described above. I can offer a helping hand or just have a look at what you are doing and provide you my view on it. What I charge for what I do and whether I will engage in something depends on the movement in myself and in the person who makes the request. You can contact me about craft based services using the request form on the contact page.
